Our logo

Our conference logo was designed by Becky West of Sign Plus and reflects the theme of our conference: Energising NZSL Teachers.

The conference theme is inspired by Energise, one of the strategic approaches in the NZSL Strategy 2026-2036:

“Energise is focused on Deaf people and NZSL users. It is about ensuring that Deaf people, and other NZSL users, particularly children, can acquire and use NZSL across their lives” (NZSL Strategy 2026-2036, p. 19).

NZSL teachers play an important role in ensuring Deaf people and others can acquire NZSL.

In the logo, the hand and the three flowing korus above it capture the movement of the sign energise. These korus also represent Wellington’s famous wind and the three branches of the NZSLTA: Northern, Central and Southern.

The logo uses Wellington’s colours, black and yellow, creating a connection with our conference host city.

Together, these elements create a meaningful design that celebrates our conference theme.
